Ungoing project
The cookbook explores how we come to the proverbial table, collectively or with ourselves, and influence each other and our surroundings toward generativity. In societies that are centered around production rather than connection, eating has become a means to an end. Food is treated as fuel, to be consumed as efficiently and pragmatically as possible, as an emotional sedative, or as a signal of cultural capital, a performance prop.
The Stoma Cookbook is an invitation to reclaim the aesthetics of food and everything that happens around it. To inhabit rituals that illuminate the spiritual aspects of sharing a meal. As you read the stories, we hope you will find prompts to create and relate, to join the game.
If you would like to feed this project, please cook from these recipes, and share your experiences with us. We are collecting documentation of people interacting with this project and food and each other. E-mail the evidence to us at stoma@tutamail.com, and let us know if we have your permission to publish those good crumbs in a subsequent zine.
